About our studs
Martini or basket
A martini setting holds the stone in three claws that meet beneath it, so it sits low and close against the lobe and shows almost no metal from the front. A basket lifts the stone slightly on a small cradle, which lets light in from underneath and gives it a little more height. Neither is better; they wear differently.
Total weight, not each
Studs are described by total carat weight across the pair: 2ct tw is one carat in each ear. It is the trade convention, and worth holding in mind when comparing a figure here with one quoted elsewhere. Diamonds are IGI certified; moissanite is labelled as moissanite and priced as moissanite.
