Choosing a pair
Weight is stated for the pair
Studs are priced and described by total carat weight across both earrings — 1ct tw means half a carat in each ear, not one carat each. It is the convention the trade uses, and worth knowing before comparing a figure here with one somewhere else.
How each style sits
Studs sit against the lobe and are the pair most likely to be left in. Hoops are pavé-set along the outer edge, so it is the line of stones, not a single one, that catches the light as they move. Drops are the only earrings here that hang, and they are the lightest — in weight and in price.
Solid gold or vermeil
Solid gold is gold alloy throughout, in the karat listed. Vermeil is a layer of gold over a sterling silver base — the same appearance when new, at a fraction of the price, but the gold layer wears gradually with heavy daily use, which is a characteristic of vermeil rather than a fault.
